Charles Lindbergh, reflecting from his deathbed on the death of his son.

from The Jafsy EP by Scoop Trumbull & The Wrong Notes

/

about

Inspired by the book "Kidnap: The Story of the Lindbergh Case" by George Waller (which is by no means a complete or final authority on the subject). The song is an analysis of how the world has changed, grown more cold and cynical, from pre-WWII to now through the eyes of its once-favourite son.

lyrics

I was the world's son
But look what it took and look what it done
It took my first born
I was the world's son

I made the ocean small
Through rain and fog I found that shore
Lord knows, I gave my all
I was the world's son

But as it shrank it grew compact
And brought forth the evil that men enact
This was my own damn fault
I was the world's son

This world is so cynical
It's innocence died with my son Charles
So don't looked shocked by what the truth has wrought
I am the world's son
I am this world's son
