This is a song about the end of a relationship and how horrible that transition period can be between the breakup and finding a new place to live, when you're forced to share the same roof and walls with the person who hurt you. It's like a monster lurking in every dark place of your life telling you that you're useless.
It's also about finding the strength to tell the monster it's not real. To move on and find yourself. And about finding new love and light in the world.
